What getting paid costs
No new station this week. The Visa–Mastercard swipe-fee settlement, preliminarily approved in June, still faces objections from Walmart and retail groups.Source: Constantine Cannon (citing Law360 and Sky News)

Our take
Waiting for the courts is a strategy measured in basis points.

SoFi goes live with stablecoin settlement on Mastercard's network. It is moving its entire $25 billion card program to SoFiUSD, a stablecoin issued by a national bank, and merchants can receive settlement in a bank account and withdraw at any hour.Source: SoFi
At the counter: settlement that arrives at any hour, weekends included, is the part a merchant feels.Source: SoFi
Our take
The card networks have started running stablecoins instead of fighting them.
Platforms open up while retailers that own the shelf close the door.
When your customer is an AI

Six banks publish voluntary principles for agent shopping. NatWest, Bank of America, ING, Capital One, Commonwealth Bank and ASB wrote them; they carry no enforcement and do not say who pays for an agent's mistake.Source: Yahoo Finance

404 Media reports that some Muse phone calls to businesses were placed by trained human agents in a call center during the beta. How often that happened is unclear.Source: Let's Data Science
At the counter: online, an agent gets in through an API. A local business has no such door, so agents call on the phone, sometimes with a person on the line.Source: Forkast · Let's Data Science
Our take
A marketplace of other people's stores has to stay open, but local businesses still need a door of their own.
